It is simple to join the scheme and start utilising the PGI status for West Country Beef and West Country Lamb.
There are three nominated inspection agencies for West Country Beef and West Country Lamb. They are required to inspect and verify that the manufacturing process meets with that set by the registered specification. The arrangements for inspection is a matter for agreement between the producer, and the inspection body.
